Good evening; I am absolutely certain that this was the most exciting experience of our family vacation (myself, my wife, and our 7-year-old daughter). Unfortunately, we spent only five days in Edinburgh, but the Royals' summer residence is truly unforgettable. The rooms—intimate in size yet exquisitely furnished down to the last detail—create a genuinely welcoming, home-like atmosphere. It is easy to imagine oneself as a lucky guest at the parties held there, or to relive the tragic moments in the Princess's chambers with a genuine sense of distress—especially upon seeing the bloodstain left by Rizzio, still visible on the beautiful wooden floor of the meeting room. Creaking floors and oak-paneled walls that carry the scent of history—unforgettable! The grandeur of the gardens shown in the photos and the splendid Rolls-Royce—royal in the true sense of the word.

Well done. Creepy in the right amount. Interesting information. The dungeons part was quite short (3 rooms), but still okay. Sometimes it was hard to understand her as a foreigner due to the scottish accent, but that's on us. Really nice guide (Helen), knowledgeable and funny, authentic. Gave us disclaimers before some very harsh topics and everything, really nice.

What a laugh we had. The actors keep it all going to well. Thats my 4th visit over the last 7 years and I love how its been different each time We pre booked on line as it saves quite a bit of money

Edinburgh Dungeon. I wasn't expecting much; some cheezy, tourist trip. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Edinburgh Dungeon is great fun. The front of house staff are excellent and the performers working the various scenes are an absolute riot! We went with our two boys, aged 10 & 12, and sure, each found this or that scene a bit intense, but nothing traumatizing. Just a lot of fun while learning the horrible facts of life in "Auld Reekie" during the Middle Ages. For those unfamiliar, this isn't just a haunted house experience with jump scares. It is 10 (I think, 10) well-written and performed scenarios from the darker history of the city. A solid 80-plus minutes of genuine scares as you're guided from room to room, spending time at a suspect surgery, a plague-infested street, a witch trial and a haunted mansion (my favorite), among others. And don't say you weren't warned about the leeches.... A blast and a real memory for the family.

Perched atop Castle Rock, its presence feels less like a monument and more like a living witness to centuries of Scottish history. Approaching it, you’re met not just with architecture, but with atmosphere: the wind carries stories, and every step along the esplanade feels deliberate, almost ceremonial. What makes the experience truly elegant is the balance between grandeur and intimacy. The sweeping views over Edinburgh are breathtaking, yet within the castle walls, there are moments of stillness—chapels, chambers, and quiet corners that invite reflection. The Crown Jewels glitter with restrained opulence, while the Stone of Destiny holds a deeper, almost spiritual significance. The castle does not overwhelm with excess; instead, it reveals itself gradually. Its aged stone, weathered yet dignified, speaks of resilience rather than decay. Even the famous One O’Clock Gun, with its sharp interruption of silence, feels like a poetic reminder of time’s passage rather than a mere spectacle. In essence, Edinburgh Castle is not simply a destination—it is an experience of presence. It captures the soul of Scotland with understated grace, leaving visitors not just impressed, but profoundly moved.
