The entrance to the Forrest Lagoon was well organized with prebooked tickets at a specific time, towels for rent, bracelets that worked as a key for entrance, lockers and drinks in the bar. Wonderful lagoon with a breathtaking view over the fjord and to Akureyri! We enjoyed the warm water and the afternoon sun. It will definitely be one of the highlights from our trip to Iceland. The Forest Lagoon was everything I needed after a long road trip. I went with my partner and we basically melted into the water for hours. Not super crowded on a weekday evening, which was a relief. The bar in the pool was a fun touch—got a fizzy drink and felt like royalty. Changing rooms were open but clean, just wish for a bit more privacy. The view over the hills was EPIC! If you go, bring your own towel unless you wanna pay extra. Would 100% come back next time I'm in Akureyri.

Honestly, a really cool spot. The hot water was suuuper nice, especially since it was snowing a little. Staff were chill, gave us suggestions about which pool was warmest (hint: head left from the entrance). Only thing was, there’s not a ton of food options, just sandwiches and soup. Crowd got bigger after 6pm but never felt overwhelming. Pro tip: take the evening shuttle if you don’t wanna walk up the hill in the wind.

Went solo on a quiet Tuesday, and wow, talk about RELAXING. The forest view is gorgeous and I loved floating around with a cold drink in hand. Didn’t feel rushed at all, no time limit. Lockers are electronic—just tap ur wristband. Shower rules are strict (naked, Iceland style) but the private stalls were a lifesaver for me. It was honestly one of my top spa experiences, and I’ve been to a few in Europe.

What to expect

Forest Lagoon Set in Vaðlaskógur forest opposite Akureyri, Forest Lagoon features two warm pools with views over Eyjafjörður. Thoughtful design and natural surroundings create a tranquil escape.

Features

Warm geothermal pools (~37°C) with forest and fjord views, ideal for lingering between soaks.

Finnish dry sauna (around 80°C, ~20% humidity) offering a clear-air heat and a unique vantage over the fjord.

Cold plunge pool at 11°C beside the sauna to alternate hot–cold for a refreshing reset.
