Getting started

Meet at the JR Kyoto Station Karasuma Exit (OKOSHI Bus/Kyoto Regular Sightseeing Bus platform). Once checked in, board the sightseeing bus and travel toward the scenic Sagano region, where your rail and river adventure begins.

What to expect

• Your first stop is the iconic Sagano Romantic Train, a 25-minute journey through the Hozugawa Gorge.The route showcases the Hozugawa Gorge's stunning scenery throughout the year.  Multilingual onboard information in English, Chinese, and Korean helps you learn more about the route.

• After arriving in Kameoka, board a traditional riverboat for an exciting 16km journey down the Hozugawa River to Arashiyama. Expert boatmen steer your boat through gentle rapids as you admire the Hozugawa Gorge's scenic landscapes.

• Your tour continues with approximately two hours of free time in one of Kyoto's scenic districts. Walk through the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, cross the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge, browse local shops, visit nearby temples, or simply soak in the area's tranquil atmosphere.
