Went with my parents and my partner—honestly, we all loved it. The gardens are JAW DROPPING, like, I kept stopping to take pics of the peacocks (they’re everywhere and weirdly chill). We did the tram ride first but ended up walking half of it anyway because we wanted to see the fruit trees up close. Food was sooooo much better than I expected (the pork, omg), and staff helped me figure out what was dairy free (lactose probs, ugh). The show after dinner was LOUD and sparkly and the volcano thing was wild. Only thing—line for drinks was a bit slow but worth it for the mai tais. Would totally recommend for families or date night.

So I went solo because my friends bailed, but NO REGRETS. I got there early and wandered the gardens (def recommend if ur into plants and random birds). The buffet was set up super organized, I didn’t have to wait long at all. Food was hot, lots of options, the purple sweet potatoes were surprisingly tasty?? Show was cool but I wish there was more hula and less of the other dances tbh. Met some nice strangers at my table, so you don’t feel awkward if you show up alone. Def worth the $$.

Big family reunion night. Loved the lush gardens and the tram tour, super handy for my grandma. Food was tasty (especially the chicken), but some stuff ran out quickly and had to wait for refills (not a huge deal, just slightly annoying). The show went a bit long for the little kids but the fire dancer at the end woke everyone up again! Staff was smiley and helped us find our table when we got lost. Would go again but might skip dessert next time, wasn’t my thing.

Highlight of our trip! My wife is vegetarian and they actually had plenty for her to eat (tofu, salads, grilled veggies, even a veggie stir fry). Drinks are included—dangerous!—but bartenders keep it light if you ask. The show was EPIC, especially when they lit up the volcano. Kids loved the peacocks and my oldest is still talking about the coconut cake. Get there early for parking, it fills up quick.

Took my bestie for her bday, staff was super sweet with the birthday lei and even sang to her (we were dying of laughter, in a good way). We skipped the tram and walked, got lost but it was worth it for the little streams and peacocks. Dinner was YUMMM, especially the roast pork and purple potatoes. The show was SO MUCH FUN—volcano and fire dancers were a highlight. Would come again for sure.

What to bring

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID if you plan to consume alcoholic beverages during the event.

Carry a light jacket, sweater, or hoodie, as outdoor evening temperatures can be cool.

Bring a credit card to pay the Wailua River State Park entrance fee ($5 per person, free for children aged 3 and under) and the $10 per vehicle parking fee, as these charges are not included with your ticket.

Hawaiʻi residents should bring a valid Hawaiʻi State ID or driver's license to receive complimentary park entry.

Accessibility

The Smith's Family Garden Lūʻau is wheelchair and ADA accessible, with accessible pathways, restrooms, and amphitheater seating.

Accessible vehicle reservations must be requested at least 48 hours in advance if transportation assistance is required.

Electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters are permitted if the combined weight of the guest and device does not exceed 500 lbs (226.5 kg) and the maximum width is 29 inches (73.5 cm).

The experience is suitable for guests of all ages, including children.

Additional information

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow enough time for check-in.

Park entrance and parking fees must be paid separately to the State by credit card upon arrival and are not included in your lūʻau ticket.

Show-only tickets do not include dinner, drinks, or the garden tram tour.

Activity schedules, menus, and event timing may change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, with events beginning 15 minutes earlier from November through February.

No refunds are provided for missed pick-ups resulting from cruise ship docking delays or arrival issues.
