The weather was sensational and the seas calm so the tour was able to travel further then usual and really get up to (& through) some of the great little caves, coves & keyholes in between rocks! The water was stunningly clear, and the wildlife didn't disappoint. There were bird colonies, various seal colonies and even 2 large elephant seals. The sheer dolerite cliffs were really impressive and the tour staff were really fun, funny & informative. It was a sensational day and worth every penny. Its a super way to see Bruny from another perspective and cover alot of ground (water)! Just beware it can get super cold on the water. Rug up and be prepared even if its sunny and warm on the land. Great to have the restaurant right there to have coffees and food both before and after the trip. 100% recommend this trip.

The coastal scenery, the seals and the dolphins putting on a show were absolute highlights. All three crew members were delightful & highly professional, sharing history, geology and tall tales with all of us on board. It was an experience. I will never forget, zooming in and around breathtaking rock formations along the way. Many thanks Pennicott Wilderness Journeys for a great day out in Bruny Island waters.

The cruise tour was a spectacular trip but see seals and pinguïns in the wild was for me the absolute most beautiful experience i have ever seen in my life . The color off the water arround Bruny island is stunning and seeing the rocks coming out is a wonderful thing to see. I have done nothing else on Tasmanië that is at beautiful as Bruny island. So i recommend to do this trip to other people

Not what I expected.. thought it was going to be a "cruise" but far more action packed. Enjoyed it nonetheless. Great knowledgeable friendly staff made this a great adventure. Fabulous scenery, not to be missed.

Your experience begins with a 3-hour wilderness cruise off Bruny Island. Board your vessel and head along the island’s rugged southern coastline towards the meeting point of the Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean.

Choose the cruise-only option for a focused coastal adventure, add round-trip ferry transfers from Kettering for easier access to Bruny Island, or upgrade to a full-day experience combining the cruise with a guided island bus tour, morning tea and a Tasmanian lunch.

What to expect

Wildlife along the coast: Keep watch for dolphins, seals and sea eagles as you cruise through the waters around Bruny Island. Your expert crew shares commentary about the wildlife and coastal environment throughout the journey.

Cliffs, caves and coastal formations: Travel close to Bruny Island’s rugged coastline to see towering cliffs, sea caves, rock formations and other natural features from a perspective you cannot get from land.

The Breathing Rock: Look out for the Breathing Rock blowhole, one of Bruny Island’s distinctive coastal formations, viewed directly from the water during the cruise.

Tasman Sea meets Southern Ocean: Cruise along Bruny’s southern coast towards the dramatic waters where the Tasman Sea meets the Southern Ocean, with open-water views and rugged scenery around you.

What to bring

Bring your hat, sunglasses, camera, water bottle, and a seasickness tablet for your cruise.

Dress in warm layers as it can get chillier on the water. Warm jackets, scarves, beanies, and gloves are recommended.

The ferry from Kettering to Bruny takes about 20 minutes. If you are booking the self-drive cruise, arrange your transport to Bruny Island in time to reach the meeting point.
