The drivers and the guide were incredibly kind and helpful. The bus takes you all the way to the site entrance, which means much less walking and fewer stairs to climb. For a day trip, taking the bus is definitely a must!

Great guide in Clement. The trip was well organised with plenty of stop overs. The sights of Meteora were amazing. However, probably best to start tour at 7am to beat the summer heat. Bring a few bottles of water during summer. Bus driver John was great, got home safely.

The tour left on time, and the ride was smooth and comfortable. The stops along the way to and from Meteora were very well organized. Our guide was excellent—very knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. Overall, a great experience!

All good! But too much time was spent taking photos at the end, with the guide stopping the bus wherever it was so people could take pictures. It would be better to do that at the beginning, when people have more energy.

We went on the English speaking tour and had Vaso as our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the monasteries the local area and geology which was an added bonus. Inside the chapels, is the most beautiful artwork and intricate carvings I have ever seen. For me, my favourite places were St Barbara and St Stephan. Everywhere you look there is so much history and so much work that has gone into building these sanctuaries. I 100% recommend this tour. Is it a long day? Yes it is. Is it worth it? 1000% yes. Book the tour, you will not be disappointed.

Overall, this tour offers excellent value for money! I highly recommend choosing the option with lunch included. The only downside is that on the way back, the bus stops at a rest area where you have no other dining options, and the food there is quite expensive. If you decide not to eat there, you’ll arrive back in Athens after 9:00 PM. Other than that, everything was great. The tour guide was excellent, and the driver was very professional. Most of the stops gave us enough time to explore, although I felt the last photo stop could have been a little longer.

What to bring

Smartphone and earphones: Required to use the multilingual audio guide inside the monasteries.

Comfortable clothing and footwear: Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip for uneven paths and stairs. Men must wear long trousers, while women must wear long skirts and cover their shoulders to enter the monasteries.

Water and light snacks: Recommended, especially during the warmer months.

What's not allowed

Photography restrictions: Photography is not permitted inside churches or of monks and nuns.

Drones: Flying drones is prohibited without special permission.

Accessibility

Not wheelchair accessible: Most monasteries involve stairs or inclined paths. If you have limited mobility, St. Stephen's Monastery offers the easiest access with a paved path and minimal steps.
