What to expect
Reindeer camp and sledding area
This experience takes place at a dedicated reindeer camp outside Tromso, where you spend time both outdoors in the snow and inside traditional shelters.
Features
A relaxing reindeer-sled ride, lasting about 10–15 minutes, lets you sit back while the reindeer pull the sled through the snow, with the pace adjusted to suit the herd and conditions.
Reindeer sledding is dependent on snow conditions, so the exact route and surface may vary based on the weather on the day of your visit.
Reindeer encounter and feeding area
You have a close, personal encounter with reindeer in their enclosure, with time to observe their behavior up close.
Features
A close, personal encounter with reindeer gives you time to stand among the animals, watch how they interact, and take photos at your own pace.
Reindeer feeding is included, so you can offer them food by hand while staff explain how feeding works and how it fits into their care.
Heated Lávvu and Sámi storytelling area
After the outdoor activities, you move into a heated Lávvu, a traditional Sámi tent, for cultural insight and a warm, sheltered break.
Features
Storytelling inside a heated Lávvu about Sámi life and reindeer traditions explains how reindeer herding shapes daily routines, seasonal movements, and cultural practices.
During this indoor session, Sámi life, traditions, and the role of reindeer are described in detail, giving context to what you have just experienced outside.
Lunch and hot drinks area
The visit also includes a sit-down meal and time to warm up with hot drinks before you head back to Tromsø.
Features
Lunch is provided, centered around a warm soup with bread, so you can refuel after the time spent outdoors in the snow.
Coffee and tea are included and served hot, giving you a chance to warm your hands and relax before boarding the bus back with the round-trip bus transfer from Tromso.
