Getting started

If you're staying within 400m of Maakuntakatu, head directly to the Lapland Royal Adventures Office. For those located a bit further, between 400m and 10km, pick-up is included, and if you're situated beyond that range, don’t worry—pick-up is available for a small surcharge.

The adventure begins with an exciting visit to the husky farms, where you’ll meet the energetic dogs who will be pulling your sled. Take your time to interact with them—capture the moment with photos, ask questions, and learn about the incredible life of sled dogs in Lapland. This is your chance to connect with your canine companions before embarking on your journey, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

5km through Lapland’s winter wonderland

With your new husky friends in mind, it’s time to hit the trails. After a thorough briefing on how to drive your sled, you'll take the reins and begin your 5km ride through the pristine Lapland wilderness.

As you guide your huskies through the snowy terrain, you'll feel the exhilaration of being fully immersed in the Arctic environment. The crisp, fresh air, the sound of the huskies' paws crunching through the snow, and the beauty of towering trees blanketed in snow create a truly magical experience.

Relax & reflect with hot drinks

After your thrilling ride, you’ll return to base, where you can warm up with hot drinks and snacks, reflecting on your adventure. It’s the perfect time to unwind, chat with your guide, and share stories from the ride. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a first-timer, the experience leaves you with memories that will last a lifetime.

What to bring

Bring a valid ID (such as a passport or driver’s license) for identification purposes.

Dress in warm, moisture-wicking layers such as thermal underwear, a fleece or wool sweater, and a weatherproof jacket to stay cozy in Arctic conditions.

Pack sturdy, insulated boots with a non-slip sole to keep your feet warm and secure while walking in snow and ice.

Bring gloves, a hat, and sunglasses to shield your hands, head, and eyes from the cold and the sun’s glare off the snow.

Wear a scarf or neck gaiter to protect your face from the cold wind and freezing temperatures during the ride.

What’s not allowed

Large bags or backpacks are not allowed on the sleds to avoid hindering movement and ensure a comfortable ride.

Alcohol consumption is prohibited before or during the experience to ensure safety.

Smoking is not permitted in the sledding area or during the ride for the well-being of both guests and the dogs.

Accessibility

This experience is not wheelchair accessible and requires moderate physical activity; participants should be able to independently board and disembark from the sled.
