Uffizi Gallery is the place to be in Florence. If you want to feel the spirit of the medieval Italian art and culture, that's your first destination. Overall went well - slight confusion on meeting point but got resolved easily in plenty of time to get my allocated time slot. Definitely recommend skip the queue entry!

Der Besuch der Uffizien war das unbestrittene Highlight unserer Reise nach Florenz, da die Sammlung italienischer Renaissance-Kunst weltweit ihresgleichen sucht. Eindrucksvolle Kunst und Architektur Botticellis „Die Geburt der Venus“ sowie seine „Primavera“ aus nächster Nähe zu betrachten, ist ein schlicht atemberaubendes Erlebnis. Neben den imposanten Werken von Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo und Raffael beeindruckt auch das historische Gebäude selbst, das von den oberen Galerien aus einen spektakulären Blick auf die Ponte Vecchio bietet. Buchen Sie unbedingt im Voraus Online-Tickets mit festem Zeitslot, um die extrem langen Warteschlangen am Eingang zu umgehen. Planen Sie mindestens zwei bis drei Stunden ein, da das Museum riesig ist und eine Fülle an Exponaten bietet. Tageszeit clever wählen: Ein Besuch am frühen Morgen oder am späten Nachmittag sorgt für ein deutlich entspannteres Erlebnis in den Haupträumen. Für Kunst- und Geschichtsbegeisterte ist diese Galerie ein absolutes Pflichtprogramm und jeden Cent des Eintritts wert.

Le point de rencontre avec la personne responsable était facile à trouver. La personne nous a donné nos billets imprimés et nous a donné des consignes claires. Nous avons pu visiter le dôme, la crypte, le baptistère, le campanile et le musée. Nous avons pu le faire à notre rythme, en prenant des pauses entre chaque visite. Il y avait aussi le service de consigne pour les sacs à dos qui est inclus. Nous avions pris l'audio guide et c'était génial. Avec 3 adolescents ce n'était ni trop long ni trop ennuyant. Les commentaires de la visite guidée étaient pertinents et intéressants, nous permettant ainsi d'en apprendre davantage sur ce qu'on visitait. Je recommande fortement. Seul petit bémol, on aurait aimé avoir été mieux informés du code vestimentaire à respecter pour entrer dans la cathédrale (épaules recouvertes, shorts et jupes aux genoux).

We split the day up with lunch in between. Good thing too as it's a lot of walking. Be prepared for lots of steps at the Uffizi (there are lifts). Crowds are unavoidable (we went at 10:15am) but not too excessive. Some amazing art and history I'm glad we visited. The Accademia was smaller and to see David in all his splendour was magnificent. I don't regret a penny spent. The whole area of Florence is beautiful and I'm so glad of the experience. Tickets bought through Headout were easy .... except transferring the online tickets to physical ones at Accademia was not that easy to follow. That could have been us though!

Vlotte annulatie. Ik kan eerlijk gezegd inhoudelijk niets over deze ervaring schrijven, want ik annuleerde uit vrees onwel te worden bij het beklimmen van de trappen bij erg hoge temperaturen. Aangezien de hitte pas duidelijk was op het moment dat we al in Firenze waren, annuleerde ik pas laat, maar binnen de termijn. Dit werd meteen aanvaard en snel terugbetaald. Alle lof daarvoor! ik heb bij andere aanbieders wel moeilijkheden ondervonden.

Firstly, the visit was very well organised so no stress, all meet-up descriptions etc were clear and worked as described. The highlight by far is the walk up the dome which you have to do in the allotted time, with three days to do the rest. The dome is much higher than it looks from the ground and as such there is a significant climb to do in quite tight areas, but if you are able to do it, the views are spectacular. I'm also a bit of a geek so I really enjoyed the detail on how this magnificent beast of a building was constructed, really impressive. Would I recommend this, yes with conditions as whilst it's definitely worth doing but I don't think it represents good value for money. Almost £250 for my family (2 adults and 3 children) is excessive. I understand a level of markup against tickets direct from the venue (which you need to book miles out, presumably because all the resellers get in first) but the level of markup felt excessive in my opinion.

Finally seeing Michelangelo's David was definitely the highlight of our trip to the Accademia. The other artwork and sculptures were also breathtaking. We will be coming back to Florence again and the Accademia will be the first on the list to visit!

What's not allowed

Large bags, backpacks, and umbrellas must be left in the free cloakroom near the entrances of Accademia and Uffizi Galleries. Please note there’s no cloakroom at Florence Duomo.

Flash photography, outside food and drink, drones, and pets (except service animals with advance notice) are not allowed at any of the three sites.

Accessibility

Both the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries are wheelchair and stroller accessible, with facilities to accommodate visitors with mobility needs.

An accessible entrance is located on the right side of the Florence Duomo for guests with motor disabilities. The dome climb is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with motor disabilities.

Additional information

No re-entry is allowed once you exit either gallery.

On the first Sunday of every month, the Uffizi offers free entry during normal opening hours.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at the Accademia.

The Florence Duomo is open from Monday to Saturday between 10:15am and 3:45pm, and closed on Sundays and during religious celebrations.
