Pro tips to help you make a pick

Advance online booking is highly recommended, as the museum uses a fixed timed-entry system with 30-minute arrival slots to manage room capacities inside the historic mansion.

Standard adult tickets grant full access to both the permanent historic collections and any active temporary exhibitions running at the time of your visit.

Reduced rates are available for youths aged 7-25 and students, while children under the age of 7 and disabled visitors with an accompanying companion can enter completely free.

Tickets are non-refundable but your entry slot time can be exchanged online exactly once up to 24 hours prior to your visit for a small processing fee.

Smartphone entry is fully supported; there is no need to print physical paper passes as the gate turnstiles scan digital PDF barcodes directly from your phone screen.

Consider booking a combined ticket option if you plan to use an audio guide, as bundling them online during checkout offers a small discount compared to renting at the counter.

Did you know?

The museum owners, Édouard André and Nélie Jacquemart, signed a pact to devote their entire fortunes and married lives to traveling the world to buy art together.

Nélie Jacquemart was a highly accomplished professional society portrait painter before marrying her wealthy husband and becoming a full-time collector.

Upon her death in 1912, Nélie bequeathed the entire mansion and its treasures to the Institut de France under the condition that it must open to the public as a museum.

The jaw-dropping ceiling fresco above the grand double-spiral staircase was painted by Giambattista Tiepolo in 1745 and was meticulously moved here from a historic villa in Venice.

To maximize floor space for their massive parties, the couple built an innovative hydraulic wall system in the reception rooms that could slide into the floors to create one giant gallery.
