This pentagonal temple is one of Azerbaijan’s most fascinating cultural landmarks, built around natural gas flames that once burned continuously from the earth. It’s worth visiting for the blend of Zoroastrian, Hindu, and Sikh history, plus the museum exhibits that show how travelers and traders once crossed this region.

    What our guests say

    Jun 2025
Came here with my two teens and honestly, we weren’t sure what to expect. The burning mountain is literally ON FIRE - it looks wild! The flames just keep going. Tour guide was chill, answered my son’s million questions (bless him). We got there mid-morning, not too busy but started filling up by noon. Fire Temple was quieter and kinda mysterious, loved the Shiva statue. Bring a hat if it’s sunny, it gets hot standing by those flames. Oh, and don’t wear sandals – got some weird ash on my toes. Worth the trip!

Weirdly magical spot. I went solo and tagged onto a small group tour (super easy, btw). Yanardag is such a bonkers sight, flames just licking outta the ground like it’s NBD. Guide told us all the legends—pretty cooool. Fire Temple was less dramatic but so peaceful, and the carvings are beautiful. Liked that you can wander at your own pace. Kinda windy when I went, so tie ur hair! Def worth the ride out of Baku.

My girlfriend and I booked this as our last day in Baku. We’re both into weird natural stuff and this did NOT disappoint. The burning mountain is just…bizarre (in the best way). Our guide, Rahim, was a total legend—funny stories, didn’t mind our endless photos. The Fire Temple has wild energy, especially at dusk. Only thing, there are NO snacks nearby so eat before you go. Got some coool pics, even if my hair smells like fire now. Would do again!

Ok, so the burning mountain is cool but honestly a bit smaller than I thought. Still, seeing real fire just coming out of dirt is kind of EPIC. The Fire Temple was more interesting for me—super old and you feel the history. Guide was nice but rushed us a bit. Wish we had more time to just chill and take it in.

Went with a group of friends—def something different! The fire at Yanardag was bigger than expected, and you can get pretty close (watch ur eyebrows lol). Temple was quiet, barely any tourists. Weather was HOT tho, bring water. Guide got us some local snacks on the way back. Not a full day, but a solid half-day trip out.
