I liked the scenery and commentary on the ride there and the free time at Hallstatt. I wish it was a bit longer. It also would have been cool to take the same route back to Salzburg as we took to Hallstatt.

Families would paint the skulls with elaborate floral designs and inscriptions, which included the deceased’s name, date of birth and death, and sometimes even a brief epitaph or profession. This was done to honor the deceased and keep their memory alive.
