We drove to the parking lot in our car. We took the minibus, which dropped us off right at the castle gates. Very good. But nobody checked the timeslot; we could have just as easily entered at 10:00 or 14:00.

Castel del Monte is one-of-a-kind, with truly unique architecture. I was shocked by the sheer amount of trash INSIDE the complex—and the dog poop! With a €10 admission fee and the fact that it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, I would have expected it to be clean! What a shame!!!

Tickets are available directly at the castle. With the headset, it’s easy to tour the castle even without a guided tour. Problem: Poor internet connection makes it difficult to download tickets

The entry tickets purchased aling with the tour guide were rejected and we needed to purchase new entry tickets to the monument (20€). The tour only went on for 30 minutes versus the indicated 60 minutes tour
