Getting started

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup in Alice Springs. Travel through the Red Centre, stopping at Mt Connor lookout and Curtin Springs before arriving at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to begin your immersive outback experience.

What to expect

Day 1

Journey through the Red Centre: Travel from Alice Springs through vast desert landscapes, with stops at Mt Connor lookout and Curtin Springs en route to Uluru.

Uluru Cultural Centre: Learn about Anangu culture, traditions, and the spiritual significance of Uluru through exhibits and interpretive displays.

Mutitjulu Waterhole & sacred sites: Walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole and discover ancient rock art, Dreamtime stories, and culturally significant locations around Uluru.

Kantju Gorge exploration: Visit Kantju Gorge, home to Central Australia's highest waterfall after rainfall and an important cultural site for the Anangu people.

Uluru sunset experience: End the day at a dedicated viewing area as Uluru transforms through brilliant shades of red, orange, and purple at sunset.

Outback camping: Enjoy dinner with your group before settling into your permanent eco-campsite for an authentic night beneath the desert stars.

Day 2

Uluru sunrise: Rise early to witness sunrise over Uluru as the changing light illuminates the monolith and surrounding desert landscape.

Kata Tjuta exploration: Travel to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), a collection of ancient rock domes that hold deep cultural significance and dominate the desert skyline.

Valley of the Winds or Walpa Gorge walk: Depending on weather and conditions, hike one of Kata Tjuta's renowned walking trails and experience the scale of these ancient formations up close.

Ayers Rock Resort drop-off: Conclude your adventure with drop-off at Ayers Rock Resort/Yulara, perfectly positioned for onward travel or further exploration of the Red Centre.

What to bring

Bring weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable walking shoes, a reusable water bottle (minimum 2L), sunscreen, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, insect repellent, a torch or headlamp, toiletries, a camera, and an overnight bag.

What’s not allowed

This experience is not suitable for guests below 8 years of age.

Accessibility

A moderate to high level of fitness is required for this tour. You'll take part in walks ranging from 2km to 6km, including sections with uneven terrain, steep rocky paths, and exposure to direct sunlight. The total walking distance across the tour can be up to 9–11km. Participation in walks is at the guide's discretion to ensure guest safety.

Guests aged 75 and over must provide a medical certificate issued within 30 days of travel.

Additional information

Children aged between 8 to 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times.

Most meals are simple camping-style meals prepared by your guide or campsite staff. Guests are encouraged to help with meal preparation, clean-up, and loading or unloading the vehicle.

Photography is allowed in most areas of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. However, some sites are culturally significant to the Anangu people and photography is not permitted in these areas.Please follow all photography restrictions and signage during your visit.

This tour operates in a small-group format with a maximum of 23 guests.

Overnight accommodation is at a permanent outback eco-campsite.

Guests travelling on short breaks/extended tours bring small soft overnight bags and hand luggage only as we have limited storage onboard our vehicles.

Meals included are 1 breakfast, 2 lunches, and 1 dinner.

Hiking routes at Kata Tjuta may vary depending on weather and park conditions.

Tour concludes at Ayers Rock Resort/Yulara and does not return to Alice Springs.

Itinerary may be adjusted due to weather, park closures, or cultural events.
