Very smooth entry after purchasing tickets online - they appeared in the app and were very easy to use. There was no queue at the aquarium for our prepaid ticket holders when we arrived. The aquarium is so well set out with such an amazing array of displays. We absolutely loved our visit !!

We had such a great time at SEA LIFE Aquarium! My sister and I really enjoyed exploring all the different exhibits and seeing the amazing sea creatures up close. It was a fun and memorable experience for both of us. Definitely worth visiting!

I took 3 students to SEA LIFE . All enjoyed the lovely big fish sea life and informative pictures and education about the sea life packed into our beautiful city , Sydney

The guide was great and very knowledgeable. The boat was nice - clean and comfortable. Although we didn't get any close ups of whales we did briefly see a couple.

A truly memorable visit overall, and genuinely educational for all ages! Getting to see animals you might never encounter elsewhere ( some genuinely rare in the wild ) is a real privilege. We loved the jellyfish room with its stunning lighting, spotted a tiny seahorse on the netting, and admired the lionfish’s flowing spines. The shark tunnel was a highlight, watching them glide right above us, and we also saw a wobbegong shark resting on the rocks, king penguins preening each other, and a turtle gliding past. The aquarium looks compact from outside but is surprisingly spacious inside. That said, as animal lovers, a few things left us uneasy. The dugong was kept alone, which is hard to watch given these are social animals that naturally live in groups. We also think the touch pool with starfish and anemones should be discontinued; these are fragile invertebrates that need calm, undisturbed conditions, unlike rays, which tend to enjoy human contact. More broadly, some enclosures felt too small for the size of the animals in them. A worthwhile and educational visit, but one that left us hoping for real improvements in how these animals are cared for.

Sea life was awesome, they had a boat ride that takes you close to and around the penguin enclosure and wonderful underwater tunnels! We loved toranga zoo, I love how open and accessible the enclosures felt especially with the giraffes and gorillas, the Seal show is a must we got in line early to ensure a good spot at the front as seats fill up fast! The only thing I would say is it is probably best not to get the ferry inclusion on your tickets as it's super easy to get a ride from the public ferries and they operate more frequently than the private ferry.

We took our grandchildren as a birthday treat and they loved it. The highlight for us was definitely the penguin boat trip.....so wonderful to be up close and personal with these gorgeous creatures. The ticket purchase was easy and admission was straightforward. However, most of our experience was very crowded with far too many prams and beach buggies making accessibility to exhibits difficult at times. I really think there needs to be a better flow of visitors and in an emergency, it is definitely unsafe!

Getting started

Present your ticket at the SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium entrance and begin exploring its themed exhibits at your own pace. Your ticket includes aquarium entry, while selected options also provide 8 digital photos or access to a 2-, 3-, or 4-attraction pass.

What to expect

Discover Australia's marine life: Explore habitats filled with tropical fish, cuttlefish, rays, sharks, and other fascinating aquatic species as you move through the aquarium's immersive exhibits.

Meet the penguins: Head to the Penguin Expedition and see Gentoo and King Penguins as they swim, waddle, and interact in their habitat inspired by the Southern Ocean.

Visit Dugong Island: Meet Pig the dugong and discover other marine species, including White Spotted Eagle Rays and Bamboo Sharks, in an environment designed around Australia's aquatic ecosystems.

Explore the Great Barrier Reef: Discover colourful reef species and experience interactive elements that bring the underwater world to life, including virtual baby turtles and a motion-sense bioluminescence display.

Get hands-on at Rockpool Discovery: Interact with marine life and natural specimens such as sea stars, shark eggs, shells, and sea urchins while learning more about these fascinating creatures.

Upgrade to Shark Dive Xtreme: Take your visit beyond the aquarium exhibits with a 2.5- to 3-hour experience that includes a 90-minute scuba diving introduction and training session, followed by a 30-minute guided dive with grey nurse sharks, Port Jackson sharks, wobbegongs, giant stingrays, and other marine life. Certified dive instructors, equipment, a full-length wetsuit, and a commemorative certificate are included.

What to bring

For the Shark Dive Xtreme, pack a swimming costume/swimmers to wear under your wetsuit for the dive. Enclosed footwear is required for safety and comfort during your visit. A towel and toiletries are recommended if you plan to use the showers after your dive.

What's not allowed

For the Shark Dive Xtreme, prescription glasses can’t be worn during the dive; bring contact lenses if needed. Personal cameras, GoPros, or recording devices are not permitted inside the tank. Diving is not allowed if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited the night before your dive. You cannot participate if you are unable to swim 200 meters or walk 1.6 kilometers without resting. Flying within 12 hours after your dive is not permitted due to safety regulations.

Accessibility

This experience is wheelchair accessible and suited for visitors with visual impairments.

Please note that the boat ride is wheelchair friendly. You can have 2 companions over the age of 16. If traveling alone, a staff member will ride with you during the experience.

For the Shark Dive Xtreme, all divers must complete a medical declaration; some conditions require certified dive doctor clearance. The experience may not be suitable for all mobility levels.

Additional information

Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Guests must be able to sit upright without assistance.

The Penguin Expedition Boat Ride is open from 10:30am - 3pm.

Children under 90cm must be seated next to a responsible adult during the boat ride.

Children over 90cm but under 120cm must be seated next to or in the row immediately in front of a responsible adult during the boat ride.

Children over 120cm are free to ride without adult supervision

Each boat can seat up to 6 guests.

Please note that the boat ride is wheelchair friendly. You can have 2 companions over the age of 16. If traveling alone, a staff member will ride with you during the experience.

For the Shark Dive Xtreme, lockers and showers are available for your convenience before and after the dive. Each dive session is limited to 4 participants for a personal and safe experience. Spectators can watch from the viewing tunnel and receive 25% off admission (up to 4 per diver). All divers must be age 14 or over, guests under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Guests must have a reasonable level of swimming ability to participate. All divers must read and complete our medical declaration questionnaire before booking their Shark Dive.
